A Companion for a Lifetime of Music and Audio Appreciation A Standard Player Radiating Normcore Appeal
To let audiophiles rediscover their extensive CD libraries in even higher fidelity, the D‑03R converts the disc’s 44.1 kHz/16‑bit data into analog through a modern high‑resolution processing engine and a low‑noise audio buffer that far exceed original CD specifications. At its core are two ROHM BD34352EKV DAC chips configured in dual-mono mode, complemented by user‑selectable digital filters. For absolute timing accuracy, each input is served by its own low‑jitter circuitry, while an ultra‑low‑phase‑noise master clock module further refines signal integrity. The D‑03R also functions as a stand‑alone D/A converter. Via the USB input, ideal for connection to LUXMAN’s NT‑07 network transport, Windows PCs, or Macs, it accepts PCM signals up to 384 kHz/32‑bit and DSD data up to 22.5 MHz. Through its S/PDIF (coaxial/optical) inputs, perfect for legacy CD players, AV systems and more, the unit can handle up to 192 kHz/24‑bit PCM data. Across all inputs, the player offers full decoding of MQA (including MQA‑CD and MQA files), with a newly added bypass mode when MQA decoding is not desired.
The D‑03R is equipped with a dedicated single‑laser CD drive mechanism, purpose‑built for CD playback. This simple, highly reliable transport offers swift operational response and is housed in a firmly rigid structure. A thick 3.2 mm steel mounting base and a steel top plate enclose the mechanism, effectively shielding it from external vibrations and ensuring precise, stable digital signal reading. In the analog stage, the differential outputs from the dual-mono D/A converters are transferred through LUXMAN’s custom components, smooth-flow non-angled circuit board traces and custom-made OFC internal wiring. These signals are fed into a fully balanced I/V conversion stage and high-quality buffer circuitry, both optimized for low impedance to drive downstream components with authority and finesse. The D‑03R’s three core elements, the robust CD transport, cutting-edge digital processing block, and meticulously engineered analog output stage are arranged in an asymmetrical left-side mechanical layout. This unique internal structure optimizes signal flow, vibration avoiding pathways and weight distribution. Together, they form an integrated trinity that elevates the D‑03R’s sonic performance and musical expressiveness.
The D‑03R features two pairs of analog outputs: gold-plated RCA terminals, with a standard 18 mm pitch, and high-grade XLR terminals manufactured by Neutrik. On the digital side, in addition to a USB input supporting PCM and DSD formats, the unit is equipped with newly enhanced coaxial and optical S/PDIF terminals, both input and output being compatible with DoP (DSD over PCM) signals. This allows flexible system expansion when paired with various audio components, including LUXMAN's NT‑07 network transport.
The front panel, with an elegant blasted white finish that stands out in any listening room, features a newly adopted large-format, high-resolution OLED display and a smart square-edged layout with neatly arranged control buttons. The display presents a variety of system status messages and includes user-friendly features such as a zoom display mode for better visibility from a distance, four dimmer levels, and an automatic brightness adjustment function.
To ensure stable and high-quality power delivery to all circuit blocks, the D‑03R employs a large power transformer and highly stable power supply regulation. This includes independent regulators and large filter capacitors for each of the mechanical, digital, and analog circuits. Notably, the DAC circuit capacitor value has been doubled from 3,300 μF to 6,600 μF. The chassis features a composite, shielded, loop-less construction designed to suppress magnetic fields, ground impedance, and digital noise.
The robust AC inlet terminal is inverse mounted, a new orientation that supports the weight of the cable more securely, ensuring stable, long-term contact between the power cable and the IEC socket.
An elegant, full-function aluminum remote control with numeric keypad is supplied, offering intuitive operation of playback functions, input selection, dimmer adjustment, zoom display, and more, all from your favorite listening position. On the rear panel, newly added control input/output terminals allow for the transmission of remote control signals between compatible devices, enabling future integration with wireless control systems.
For USB audio playback via PC or Mac, LUXMAN provides our proprietary high-resolution playback software, LUXMAN Audio Player, compatible with both Windows and macOS. Supported file formats include FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, MP3, DSF, and DSDIFF. Designed with a focus on file playback, the software offers a simple, user-friendly interface and is available as a free download from LUXMAN's official website.
